Event Description

In Hawaiian, mālama means "to take care of." The mission of our race is the benefit the people of Hawaii, a community of which has been heavily impacted by the pandemic. With a heavy reliance on tourism, an industry which is now estimated to be down about 65%, the Hawaiian economy is struggling.

100% of our race proceeds will be donated to the Aloha United Way, a nonprofit organization that has served Hawaii for over 100 years, helping the community build strength and resiliency. They focus on the toughest challenges facing the community at any given time, tackling problems at their roots and supporting solutions that will have lasting, sustainable change. Recent focus has been on COVID-19 relief and many funds and programs were launched last year as part of their efforts. For more information, visit them at www.auw.org

Virtual Race:

For the safety of our participants, the Mālama Hawaii 5k will be entirely virtual. Choose your own route and (optionally) share your results with everyone on our website . We will have a leaderboard updating as submissions come in so we can see who comes out on top. Everyone is welcome to join including individuals and groups of runners, joggers, and walkers.

Race Dates:

One of the benefits of a virtual race is the flexibility! The race period is open May 16-22, 2021. Sleep in, find a fun route, and race on your schedule!

Virtual Packet "Pick-Up":

All registrations include a race t-shirt, which will be mailed to the address used to register. Please note that you must register before May 1st to receive your shirt before race day. Everyone who submits a time will also receive a finisher's certificate.
