LAAA is committed to providing project based learning experiences for our students in which students can use their experiences in the classroom to benefit the wider community. Second and third grade students are teaming up to raise money for childhood cancer research by hosting our 7th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Monday, May 24th - Thursday, May 27th.
Second grade will practice their mathematical skills such as measuring volume and counting money, while third grade focuses on studying economics such as the production and distribution of yellow goods and services.
Students will have an opportunity to exercise and run for a cause. All hybrid students will be participating in the Lemonade Run on Tuesday, May 25th (Blue Group) and Wednesday, May 26th (Gold Group). All remote students can choose to participate at home on a date/time that is convenient for you.
Students can be sponsored in the run by sharing this website link with family and friends selecting “donate” in the top right corner and choosing the student’s grade-level. The grade-level with the most money donated will receive a special surprise. In order to participate in the Lemonade Run during the school day, ALL hybrid students must register selecting “sign-up” by Monday, May 24th.
All proceeds will be donated to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The whole school is encouraged to join the effort in support of childhood cancer research. Note: This is a STUDENT ONLY event.
There are many ways to get involved:
Register and sponsor your child in the lemonade run by selecting “sign-up” by Friday, May 21st. Share the website link with family and friends on social media selecting “donate”. Students can purchase yellow products made by third grade students. Items range from 25 ₵ - $5.00. Purchase lemonade and lemon themed snacks at lunch for $1. Order your spirit wear for $12.00 by Thursday, May 7th. The sign-up link will prompt you to purchase a shirt. Support childhood cancer awareness by wearing your Alex’s Lemonade Stand t-shirt or yellow attire on your race day. Take pictures and post on social media using the hashtag #LAAALOVESLEMONADE
