Join us for the first ever Lewistown Read & Run 5K run/walk and book drive!

The Lewistown Read & Run is a vibrant 5k Run/Walk hosted by the PHN Charitable Foundation, benefiting our literacy initiatives in the community. Whether you're a seasoned runner or simply seeking a leisurely stroll, there's something for everyone at the Read & Run! Join us for the festivities at The Lewistown Community Health Center, located at 106 Derry Heights Blvd, Yeagertown, PA, on May 18, 2024. Your participation in this inaugural Read & Run isn't just a run—it's an opportunity to be part of something extraordinary! By joining us, you play a pivotal role in supporting our literacy initiatives across the counties served by Primary Health Network.

With picturesque views of the surrounding mountains, the Lewistown Read & Run guides you through the charming side streets of Yeagertown, PA. Hills and inclines add an exciting challenge to the race. The race begins and ends at the Lewistown Community Health Center on Derry Heights Blvd.

Our post-race celebration features an awards ceremony, live DJ, light meal, children's book drive, and a 50/50 cash draw! Any participant who brings a new or lightly used children's book as a donation to our Little Free Library™ at Kish Park will receive one free ticket for the 50/50 drawing, when you purchase one set of 5! Limit one of each ticket per participant, but feel free to donate as many books as you'd like. Price of the 50/50 cash draw: 5 tickets for $10.

Read & Run 2024 | Registration & Pricing

Online Registration will be available until Friday, May 17th, 11:59 PM. You may also register on the day of the event between 9:00 am & 10:00 am at Primary Health Network's Lewistown Community Health Center, PHNCF office, first floor. Early bird registration discounts are available, and the pricing schedule is listed below, so secure your spot now!

• Now - March 31st: 5k - $30 | Just Walk - $20
• April 1st - April 30th: 5k - $35 | Just Walk - $25
• May 1st - May 18th: 5k - $40 | Just Walk- $30

Read & Run 2024 | Race Information

For 2024, the event will start at 10:30 a.m. at Primary Health Network's Lewistown Community Health Center, 106 Derry Heights Blvd, Yeagertown, PA.  To ensure all participants have a great race, please line up according to your anticipated race pace within your registration.

5k | This is built for those in the group who plan to run the entire race. Only participants in the 5k run will receive a timing chip.

Just Walk | This option is built for those who don't wish to run but still want to participate in the event. If your plan is to just walk with family and friends and support PHN Charitable Foundation, then this option is for you! If you register for this choice, please line up toward the rear of the race. Walkers will not receive a timing chip.

Parking | Ample parking will be available in the Lewistown Community Health Center Parking lot.

Wednesday, May 15th | Packet Pick Up at Lewistown Community Health Center Conference Room, located at 106 Derry Heights Blvd, Yeagertown, PA 17099, from 9am to 6pm.

Saturday, May 18th | Race Day: Lewistown Community Health Center PHN Charitable Foundation Office, First Floor, located at 106 Derry Heights Blvd, Yeagertown, PA, from 9:00am to 10:00am.

10:30 AM - 5k & Just Walk shotgun start

11:15 AM - Post Race Food & Award Ceremony

• Overall top finishers as well as Men's, Women's, and Non-Binary top finishers
• Live DJ from 10:30 AM until Read & Run 2024 concludes!

11:30 AM - 50/50 Cash Drawing

Read & Run 2024 | Giveaway

All Participants will receive the following as part of their race entry:

• A cooling scarf for use after the race to help you cool down! A tub of water will be placed at the finish line so you can activate your scarf immediately after the race. While supplies last.
• Book Lover's Lunch provided by Milroy Deli
• Opportunity to snap a selfie at our selfie station!

Read & Run 2024 | Lunch Only Option

Lunch is provided which includes subs from Milroy Deli and other accompaniments. If you are not a race participant but would like to join us for the meal, the price is $12 per person. For more information or to register, please visit our lunch sponsor website.  

Read & Run 2024 | Children's Book Drive

The PHN Charitable Foundation is always looking for new or lightly used children's book to fill our Little Free Library™ located at Kish Park. Please consider dropping a few books into our donation box while you are here!

Read & Run 2024 | 50/50 Cash Drawing

All Participants 18 years of age or older may purchase tickets for our 50/50 cash drawing. Tickets are 5 for $10 and there is no limit on how many you can purchase!

If you bring a new or lightly used children's book to contribute to our book drive, you get 1 free 50/50 ticket when you purchase one set of 5! Limit 1 free ticket per person, but feel free to donate as many books as you'd like! Same day ticket purchases for the 50/50 drawing are cash only.

Please bring cash or a credit card for any payments. Please note: 50/50 Cash Drawing ticket purchases are cash only.  Please remember, that while we welcome your pet to our event, there are no pets allowed inside the Primary Health Network's Lewistown Community Health Center.
