The Lake Minnetonka Triathlon is thrilled to be back for 2021!
Whether you're up for a challenge by signing up to race or just want to come out on a beautiful June morning to support the racers, we hope to see you there!
The race will take place on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at The Excelsior Commons. The first wave will begin at 7:30 am.
The start, finish, and transition area will all be located at The Commons Park.
Swim: This unique 1/2 mile swim is along the shore of Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior Bay. Spectators can view the entire swim from the hillside above, as it is not an out-and-back swim. The water temperature in June is typically a comfortable 70-78 degrees; however, wetsuits are legal and worn by most.
Bike: The 15 mile, out and back, ride is mostly flat with some rolling hills. The bike route goes through the cities of Excelsior and Chanhassen. All cyclists must observe MN traffic laws and ANSI or SNELL approved hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited.
The route is as follows: depart from the Excelsior Commons park on Lake Street, veer onto Mill Street (Mill Street turns into Powers Blvd.), turn right onto W 78th Street, turn right onto Galpin Blvd., turn right onto Lake Lucy Road, continue to the turn around then ride the same route back.
*Please review the course ahead of time so you are clear on the turns, particularly the intersection of Lake Street and Mill Street. Your safety is our number one priority.
Run: The 5k run is along the shores of Lake Minnetonka on the Three Rivers Park light rail trail. The trail is very flat and made of hard pack clay.
