Event Description

Lace up your running shoes and get ready to "run the bases" at the Beach 2 Bar 5k+ on February 25, 2017.  The beneficiaries of this year’s “Beach 2 Bar” event will be Martin County North Little League and the East Stuart Baseball Initiative as they work towards refurbishing the youth baseball and softball fields in East Stuart, and specifically at Guy Davis Field and Sailfish Park. 

Participants will begin the race on the Stuart public beach, make their way across a pair of bridges and end at Carsons Tavern to begin the festivities. The post-race party will feature refreshments; music and the awards ceremony.  The course is USATF certified and features chip timing by MCM Timing & Results. Awards will be given to the overall male/female winners and to the top three males/females in each age category. The first 250 registered runners will receive a long-sleeve shirt.

Baseball continues to grow as the sport of choice among youngsters in the East Stuart community.  Over the past 8 years, through the East Stuart Baseball Initiative – a private-public partnership between the City of Stuart, Martin County North Little League, and ME’s Team Foundation -- more than 400 new players from East Stuart have participated in Little League programs.  Less than a decade ago, there were no baseball teams from East Stuart.  This past season, eight teams of East Stuart youngsters participated in Little League Baseball.  This resurgence of baseball in our community has highlighted the vital need for updated and safer facilities.   For this reason, Northstars, Inc., a non-profit organization founded to promote baseball and softball in Martin County, has launched a campaign to raise funds that will allow for fields at Guy Davis and Sailfish Parks to receive much-needed makeovers to the infields, dugouts, and batting cages. These improvements will enhance participation as we make a statement of support for young athletes in East Stuart. 

Event details and schedule

Race will begin promtly at 4:30 pm.  Day of registration will begin at 2:30 pm and will be $30 cash, or check. Last shuttle to the beach will leave at 4:00 pm. Packet pick-up will be held at Carsons Tavern on Friday, February 24th from 4:00 - 6:00. * You will receive email updates from the Race Director regarding overflow parking*
