Event Description
Friends for Life is a non-profit organization at the University of Florida dedicated to improving the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families. By encouraging community involvement, we strive to make a difference in the lives of others. We volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, the Shands pediatric clinic, and Noah's Endeavor on a regular basis. In addition to this, we hold five major events throughout the year, including the Lance Dalton Memorial Silent Auction, Hearts for the Holidays, Mile for a Child 5k, the Chomp Cancer Carnival, and Painting for Patients. All of which raise money, promote cancer awareness, or try to make a positive impact on the community.
The next main event we will be hosting is Mile for a Child 5k, which will be held at Squirrel Ridge Park in Gainesville on Sunday, February 26th. This year, all the money raised will go to Stop Children’s Cancer, a non-profit organization committed to the prevention, control and cure of cancer in children through the funding of pediatric research.
