Event Description

This 5k race is in loving memory of 1996 Olympian, Paul McMullen. Paul was a multiple time American champion at 1500m/mile, 1996 Olympian at the Atlanta Games, coach of the Chariots of Fire Track Club, mentor to hundreds of kids, adventurer, father of three children, and husband. The memory and legacy that Paul left behind will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts of many.

The 5k course is cross country style. The course is grass with very minimal hills, a long finishing stretch, wide starting area, lots of variety, and one loop that does not repeat. The course has markers at every single mile. The course meets all MHSAA specifications to host a Regional Championship. There is also plenty of parking over a 5 acre grass parking lot. The course was built to honor the Veterans of our country and has been created with purely volunteers. The course is the home cross country course of the Cadillac High School Cross Country team.

Directions to the course (if driving from East to West): Drive west on E34 Rd past the Wexford County Airport, there is a dirt road between Fastenal and Habitat for Humanity on the righthand just past the Airport (the sign reads Walker Avenue), turn there and the volunteers will direct you for parking.

Directions to the course (if driving West to Easy): Drive east on E34 Rd towards the Wexford County Airport, turn left on the dirt road between Habitat for Humanity and Fastenal on the lefthand side before the Airport (Walker Avenue).

The address of the course on the event takes you to another entry for the park where they will redirect you to the correct spot.

The proceeds of the race will go towards a scholarship fund in Paul's name for a senior high school boy and senior high school girl. As well as a memorial to be built at the finish line at the 5k course.
