A note about the cost for this event: There is no set fee to participate in this 5K. When you sign up you will be asked for a $25 donation, which you can adjust to any amount including $0. We encourage you to set up a fundraising page after signing up and asking friends and family to help us reach our fundraising goal!

Hands Across The Water invites you to celebrate and lift our foster families by participating in a 5K to raise funds for child enrichment activities. Foster families and kinship caregivers receive funds from the state of Michigan to defray the costs of basic expenses such as food and clothing, and health insurance is also provided via Medicaid. But many foster families struggle to cover the costs of extra enrichment activities that help nurture their foster children's interests, such as music or art lessons, sports or summer camps where they are able to socialize with other children.

HATW will earmark all funds raised from this 5K to our Foster Youth Enrichment Fund to help children in care meet their full potential. Because this event is being held virtually without a timer, we encourage you to make it a family activity: walk or run your 5K in one day, or over several. Pledge the amount you would normally pay for a race registration, or raise additional funds by asking friends and family members to pledge support for your participation in this important cause! Once you register, you will be able to invite others to join you, and to set up a personal fundraising link!
