Event Description
As our community joins the nation in commemorating the lives lost that day on 9/11, we will also be remembering and honoring the many public safety professionals who have lost their lives this past year, as we host our 5th annual Lakeland Police Foundation Fallen Heroes Memorial 5K in Lakeland. During this year’s race, all in attendance will have the opportunity to run/walk in honor of the 9/11 victims, all former and presently serving members of our armed forces and our nation’s fallen law enforcement officers, including our seven fallen heroes at the Lakeland Police Department.
The Annual Fallen Heroes Memorial 5K run generates funds to maintain Lakeland's Fallen Heroes Memorial and to support the families of police officers in their moments of need, just as they support us in our greatest moments of need.
EARLY PACKET PICK-UP
Packets and bibs can be picked up at the Lakeland Police Department on Thursday, September 9 or Friday, September 10 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:30PM. Pickup area will be at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the entrance of the station.
DAY OF RACE PACKET PICKUP:
Packets can also be picked up race morning between the hours of 6:00AM and 7:00AM at the YMCA. Expect longer lines on race morning, however. On site registration will be open until 7:00 a.m.
PARKING:
The parking areas for the event will be in the grassy areas on the south side of the YMCA. Volunteers will be in the parking area to assist. Please DO NOT park in the YMCA lot or at the veterinary clinic next door! You may be towed if you park in these areas.
MEDALS:
Every participant will receive a finisher medal.
Placement medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age 5-year age bracket.

Top Military/Public Safety Award - Whose got the best time?
A special award will be given to the top finishers who have previously, or are currently serving, in the US military or public safety arena. (Police Officer, firefighter, EMS or Corrections Officer)
