Event Description

The Tall City Cross County Invitational (TCI) invites you to the Camron Stotts Open 5K. 

Join us in this 250,000-point challenge to support the largest cross-country event in the Permian Basin. Whether you run, hike, golf, dance, walk your dog, volunteer, or do anything that gets your heart thumping to a changing beat you can earn points by joining our challenge. Then, join us Saturday, August 27th, 2022 for the 5th Annual Camron Stotts Open 5K at Hogan Park (1201 E Wadley Ave) Midland, TX for a mixed surface 5000 meter cross country course. This event is OPEN to the public for participation.

By joining in the FREE challenge to 250,000 activity points you can help us raise $5000 towards the operational cost for the Tall City Cross Country Invitational. A generous Donor will give $5000 to this CC Invitational if our community comes together to get all 250,000 points. 

HOW IT WORKS:

You can earn up to 5000 points in the week challenge. Below you will find how to log your activities and start earning points. 

In this event, you will earn points towards your week total by completing one or more of the daily activities.
Walk/Run                           2 miles                                    100 pts.
Bicycle                               5 miles                                    100 pts.
Active Minutes                   30 min                                     100 pts.
Swim                                 500 meters                              100 pts. 
Manual Entry                     30 min                                     100 pts.

EVENT INFO:
Entry Fee: FREE to enter both events. 

$20 Donation allows the TCI to coordinate with over 200 coaches and 1500 students, from public and private schools in the area. 

$50 Donation allows the TCI to benefit 200 area schools each season to promote the sport of running and create a premium sanctioned event. 

100% of your entry donation goes towards directly supporting the Tall City Invitational. 

GETTING STARTED:

1) Create or Already Have an account on Strava.com
2) SIGN UP ON THIS PAGE and you will be entered to both events. 
3) Receive confirmation that you have joined and you are in! 
4) Track and report your activity on the Strava App between (August 20th - 26th) 
5) Join us Saturday, August 27th at 7:45 AM

ABOUT CAMRON STOTTS:

Camron Stotts Open 5K is a race that honors the life & legacy of Camron Stotts, who tirelessly and selflessly served others by carrying on his torch and supporting causes he was passionate about. Camron was slated to be Midland Classical Academy's Head Coach for the cross-country team in 2018. Unfortunately, he lost his life in an accident while cycling that spring.  

Camron was an avid cyclist, runner, and fitness enthusiast who enjoyed outdoor activities. He believed that enjoying God's natural world provided a path to better communion with Him; and in turn, lead to a more fulfilling life overall. Camron was the embodiment of a healthy diet and lifestyle and he encouraged others to embrace positive change in their lives through an active lifestyle. 

It was Camron's idea to host an open division for the community during the Tall City Invitational cross country meet. Hence, we continue to host this race in his honor. 

The Camron Stotts Open 5K will be held the same day as the 13th Annual Tall City Invitational (TCI). Tall City Invitational is a cross country meet for junior high and high school teams hosted by Midland Classical Academy. Tall City Invitational aims to increase the participation of young athletes in the sport within Midland and surrounding cities by hosting a meet in our own backyard, enabling family and friends to cheer on these athletes as they showcase their skills and abilities.

PACKET PICK-UP:

Packet pick-up will be on the morning of the race, AUGUST 27th starting at 7:00 am.  Please bring your ID and registration confirmation email. 

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

7:00 AM  - PACKET PICK-UP at race venue (Hogan Park)

8:00 AM - Camron Stotts Open Run 5K - RACE BEGINS

RACE SHIRT is FREE with your registration. (while supplies last) 

PRIZES:
1st, 2nd, 3rd age division 5K awards for male and female participants, (on-site only)
