Event Description

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) is a big fancy word for a brain stem tumor. This is an inoperable tumor that can easily go undetected.  To help fund the research and help create the awareness, we are celebrating in conjunction with the Zombies for an 8k like no other!

Dress as your favorite zombie or just bring your brain to run this greenway 8k along the west Knox greenway starting and finishing at the 10 Mile trail head at 200 N. Peters Road.   

The festivities begin September 11th at 8:30am for the One Mile Zombie RACE.  This will be a one mile trial race to see what you got going up against the zombies! Then at 9am the 8k will begin for a 2.5 mile out and back and at 9:10 we will let the zombies walk. The route goes out on the "10 Mile Greenway" following the trail to pickup on the Jean Teague Greenway with the 2.5 mile turnaround just before Winston Rd.  

This out and back course will feature scenic woods and zombies, making for the perfect September run! 

Prizes will be awarded for Top 3 overall male and female, Top Masters Male and Female (1 deep), Top 3 Age Groups 10 and Under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

 For the one mile RACE we will do top male and female 18 and under / 19 - 39 / 40-59 / 60+

NEW THIS YEAR- THe Living Dead Challenge!  Do you have what it takes to beat the living dead? FInd out with the one mile and 8k combo! Each participant will receive a special bonus from Frank, our medal mascot and a plaque to top male and female over all combo with both scores.  

We will also have a top team award for the BIGGEST TEAM and an award for the BEST DRESSED ZOMBIE! 

So get your guts and glory ready to race on September 11th on the creepy Knoxville Greenway!

Packet Pickup Saturday 9/11 7:00am till 8:50am on site at 200 S. Peters Road.  

Day of Registration will be on your own smartphone devide, no laptops available.
