Sign up today for a complimentary entry for the Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on October 3, 2021 and join an incredible trans-Atlantic team of runners raising funds for Parkinson’s disease research!
Running a marathon is an incredible undertaking in and of itself and requires a tremendous amount of physical and mental endurance and motivation. Why not give yourself an added boost of motivation by running in honor or memory of someone in your life that who has faced a cancer or Parkinson’s disease journey?
When you sign up to run with the Van Andel Institute Marathon Team, we will be with you every step of the way! You will have access to fitness training, an amazing team of supporters and the best part? 100% of every dollar you raise will go directly to cancer and Parkinson’s disease research happening at VAI.
The Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon is making a return this year, and Van Andel Institute has teamed up with U.K.-based Cure Parkinson’s to give runners the opportunity to take on the world’s greatest marathon from the comfort of their hometown. Simply plan your course, download the official app, start fundraising and get running!
To take part and to receive your unique finisher’s medal and t-shirt via mail, you’ll need to complete 26.2 miles in 24 hours, anytime between 7 p.m., Oct. 2, and 7 p.m., Oct. 3.
You will track and log miles using the Official Virgin Money London Marathon app, which also provides access to an exclusive audio commentary about the history and atmosphere of the event while guiding you on your own personal, virtual tour of London!
In exchange for access to this incredible experience, and for your complimentary entry, we ask that you commit to raising $350 to support Parkinson’s research through the International Linked Clinical Trials (iLCT) initiative, a collaborative drug-repurposing effort between Cure Parkinson’s and VAI. Since its establishment in 2012, iLCT has supported 22 clinical trials — seven completed, 15 underway as of March 2021 — of medications designed to treat other diseases that also have promise in Parkinson’s.
