Event Description

After 4 years at different location, swim returns HOME

Swim Miami will be returning to its roots and heading back to the Miami Marine Stadium for 2017. Set to be bigger and better than ever, the event will also be bringing back the beloved K-9 Krawl dog race. This is the premier event of the South Florida Open Water swim season and sure to be a hit when May rolls around.

PRE-EVENT REQUIREMENTS

– All participants must do mandatory check in on Saturday, May 6.

– Changes will be allowed up until a week prior to the event. Any changes made after that will require a 10 dollar fee.

10:15 AM – Miami Mile 18 and under (Male)

Award Ceremony:
Awards will be going on simultaneously as events finish.

Every swimmer walks away with a limited edition finisher medal.  This medal is a custom jigsaw puzzle piece medal as part of the South Florida Swim Series. By completing all three, they will form together to read Swim Series on the back. This are truly special and a great memento for the year you've had in open water swimming. Overall Top 3 Male and Female awarded.  

Time Limits:   


The 10K Swim: 4 hours

The 5K Swim: 2 hours

The Miami Mile: 1 hour

The 800M Swim: 30 minutes

SWIM DETAILS

Sanctioned By: World Open Water Swim Association – WOWSA

Member of the WOWSA World 1 Mile Series.

Wetsuits: Wetsuits are allowed but only if you marked it on your registration.

Water Temperature: 81-82 degrees (F)

Safety: Current World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) rules will govern this meet. Safety rules as outlined by WOWSA and as recommended by the referee, will be in effect. 

 

Water Entry:   This event will employ an in-water start and beach finish. All entries will be feet first and controlled by the safety officer. There are no racing dives permitted.

Hydration Station: There will be a hydration station available with electrolytes and water. You may bring your own hydration but you will need to have a man on the dock to hand to you.
