Event Description

The 14th Annual Wright Ride will be DIY Self Supported this year.  You can ride from Saturday, August 14 to  Sunday, August 22.  Ride any of these dates at any time.  Distances from 10-72 miles are available.  The 10mile route is exclusively in Oak Park, the 30, 50, and 72-mile routes start in Oak Park, continue through River Forest, Berwyn, Riverside, Brookfield, La Grange, and Western Springs. The two longer routes continue on to Argonne and the surrounding area.  All riders must register and sign the waiver.  There will be no in-person check-in this year.

Commemorative patches will be available for the first 200 riders that complete any route.

Have fun and ride at your own pace this year.   Sorry, there are no volunteers or rest stops available this year.   Have fun, ride safe, stay hydrated, come back again in 2022 for the fully supported ride.  Show your registration form at Wheel and Sprocket or Bike Fix after your ride for a free patch while supplies last.

Event details and schedule

Parking garages in Oak Park are typically free on Sunday, but please check the signs.  Best options are the parking garage on Marion just north of Lake Street or the parking garage on the east side of Forest north of Lake Street across from Austin Gardens.  You can typically find on-street parking during the week just outside of the immediate downtown area.

There are typically restrooms available at the local parks in Oak Park for the 10-mile route. For the 32 and longer routes: Spring Rock Park &  Argonne Park will have restrooms, (NOTE:  Bonus for 2021, turning right onto Cass Road (directions will say to turn left for Argonne Park) and you will come to Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve with restrooms,  water & picnic areas).  There are dining options in Oak Park, Riverside, Western Springs,  a Mobile gas station just west of Madison Street on Frontage Road right before you cross under I55, a McDonald's, Walgreens & Speedway gas station at 91st @ Rte 83 (about a mile before the turnoff onto Cass to Argonne Park).   There is a picnic grove further into Argonne Park either across the field or out the dirt/gravel road (also restrooms).
