Walk or Run to help support the AAPI community & BCNC
Join me in this virtual 5K by walking or running between Friday, August 13 and Sunday, August 15. With the rise of the pandemic over the past year, there has been an immense increase in xenophobia and racism toward the AAPI community. This rise is more alarming than ever, and many AAPI families have been victims of this anti-Asian sentiment. It is extremely important to address this issue and help those impacted. Walk or run 5K/1 mile to help raise awareness. This event is virtual, and you can walk or run anywhere you'd like!
The virtual walk/run is free for everyone, but donations are greatly appreciated. All donations will go to Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC), an organization dedicated to ensuring that Asian families have the resources and support they need to improve their social well-being. About me:
My name is Angelina Dong, and I am Chinese American entering my senior year at Westwood High School. My passion includes exploring social justice & equality, and specifically, the rise in anti-Asian sentiment. It is completely heartbreaking to hear about the rise in anti-Asian hate acts and how the pandemic has affected the AAPI community within the United States. With this in mind, I decided to organize this virtual 5K walk/run to help those impacted.
Race Instructions (Please Read):
- Participate as an individual or organize a team
- Walk or run anytime and anywhere between Friday 8/13 to Sunday 8/15
- Submit photos online after completion (optional, but encouraged)
