The Compton Run Club has supported the City of Compton through fitness for the past two years! Our goal is to normalize running in the city of Compton. Running is a great way to improve our mental and physical health. We created a platform and safe space for people all around to come and run our City! There is often a negative perception about health in the "inner city". We're doing our part to change that notion!
Along with supporting the community through running, we believe we can create a larger impact. We recognize how important further education is for establishing a long-term career. With that said, we also understand the monetary constraints college can have on a family. Along with many partners including Hoka One One, we decided to create the "5k for 5k Scholarship Fundraiser" race and events to help pay for college expenses for two Dominguez High School students. Our goal is to reach $10,000 for the event. That $10,000 will then be split and two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to the students.
The race will include a 5k route around Dominguez High School. Along with the race, there will be vendors, food trucks, music, and much more. We are looking forward to bringing an event like this to our beautiful City!
Many organizations have come together to make this run/event happen. Many thanks to these organizations. See the list below:
