Event Description

Every youth in the Friends of the Children - Los Angeles (Friends LA) program receives a long term, salaried, professional mentor from kindergarten to high school graduation - a 12+ year commitment, no matter what. Friends LA will be honoring our 12+ year commitment at Steps For Change, our 1st annual 5K Walk/Run fundraising event! Funds raised from this event will support our mission to positively impact the lives of children affected by foster care through the gift of a Friend. 

Steps For Change takes place in the heart of Playa Vista. The route starts and ends at the beautifully renovated Spruce Goose Hangar and loops around Crescent Park. The flat route makes an ideal race for children, adults, and families with strollers. The event will start with a dynamic warm up and finish with a sweet treat at our Ice Cream with Friends after party. Come prepared to get active for a great cause! 

Event Schedule and Details

9:30-10:00AM: Check in & bib pick-up

10:30AM: Race starts (Adults 14+)

10:50AM: Family fun run starts (Kids and adults)

11:50AM: Ice Cream with Friends begins

Participants are not allowed to run with dogs. Running/walking with a stroller is allowed. All participants will receive a medal. All photos taken during the event will be found on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/FriendsLA.

What ages can participate in the 5K race? All ages can participate in the 5K Race.

What are the policies about children? Children ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

What are the policies about pets? No pets allowed.

Where do I park? Parking is around surrounding neighborhoods. You can also park in the Runway parking lot. Please watch for parking signs. We recommend using the shuttle, carpooling, or using a rideshare service.
