Event Description
The Georgia’s Army National Guard ASSAULT ON KENNESAW MOUNTAIN (AoKM) MEMORIAL 5K Race is conducted at Kennesaw Mountain State Park, in Kennesaw, Georgia. Attracting hundreds of runners from across the state each year, the AoKM exemplifies what it means to Never Forget. Participants, which include military and civilian runners of all ages, run to honor the Georgia National Guard’s Fallen 43 Soldiers lost during the Global War on Terrorism 2001-Present. AoKM’s mission is to support the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, build morale, and promote physical fitness.
Now in its 10th YEAR, over 2200 runners have assaulted the mountain since 2012. To date, the AoKM has generated over $30,000 in support of our Georgia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen.
This year, we are BACK AT IT, and STRONGER THAN EVER!!!! You have two options this go around.
OPTION #1: Finish the race IN PERSON!!!! See you on the mountain on Saturday, 23 October 2021!!!
OPTION #2: Finish the race VIRTUALLY, from WHEREVER YOU MAY BE!!!! Strap on your walking or running shoes ANYTIME (day or night) from ANYWHERE (Germany, New Hampshire, Oregon, Colorado, Kentucky, Italy, or Kuwait…….WHEREVER you may be) and JOIN IN on the FUN!!!!
We want EVERYONE to have to opportunity to HONOR those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation.
You are invited to join together with people from all walks of life to honor America’s finest, in support of an organization that provides much needed relief in times of crisis, to America’s finest. You will have 43 days to complete your race starting on September 11, 2021 to race day, on 23 October 2021. Registration will remain open until 22 October 2021.
Runner Packets, including a FINISHER medal, a commemorative LIMITED EDITION 10th ANNIVERSARY race shirt, race bib, and AoKM sticker. Those who run the race in person can pick up their packet on race day, or at Big Peach Running Company in Kennesaw on the day before the race. For virtual racers, race packets will be mailed in bulk, beginning on 15 October 2021.
We look forward to cheering you on from wherever you may be!!! We are thrilled to experience the fun and fellowship that the in person race will bring, as well as the seeing all of the smiling faces of our virtual supporters posted on our social media!!

Race Day Events:
6-7:15 a.m. - Late registration ($40)
6:00-7:15 a.m. - Packet pick-up/Expo (Grace Community Church)
7:30 a.m. - Pre-Assault Opening Ceremony commemorating our Fallen Warriors
8:00 a.m. - ASSAULT begins!!! It's RACE TIME!!!!
9:00 a.m. - Awards ceremony
