Fundraiser to Support Homebound Disabled Veterans in Long Beach

Meals on Wheels of Long Beach (MOWLB) invites all Runners, Walkers, Wheelchairs and Strollers to join us for our 2nd Annual 5K event hosted by Long Beach City College Cross Country and Track & Field Department.

On Saturday, August 5th we are hosting our 2nd annual 5K Run, Walk, Roll & Stroll fundraising event that will be held at the Veterans Stadium parking lot, Long Beach City College Liberal Arts Campus near Carson & Clark Ave. The net proceeds will be used to fund our new project that will provide meals with a “friendly visit” for low-income, homebound disabled veterans living at the Villages at Cabrillo housing community in Long Beach.

Everyone from the competitive runner to the recreational runner…or walker is welcome! We also welcome all those who will roll their way through the course in wheelchairs and of course parents with their baby strollers. Please no bicycles or skateboards.

Our 5K course takes a scenic tour from the Veterans Stadium parking lot through the beautiful LBCC campus and is designed by the LBCC Track & Field Department staff. Participants will receive an event t-shirt and medal. T-shirts and Participation Medals are limited; please register early to reserve yours!

MOWLB is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community service organization that has served homebound seniors, veterans and disabled in the Long Beach area for 46 years. The organization receives no government funding and is supported by the generosity of individual donors, private foundations and our business community.
