This will be a 6 week series during which runners will train for a 5k and a 10k under an RRCA certified coach. It is a BEGINNER FRIENDLY group that will accommodate multiple paces (walkers welcome, competitive runners welcome). The group will kickoff Wednesday, January 5th at 5:30pm and meet weekly through February 9.
Respective distances covered for the six weeks will be: 2 miles, 2.5 miles, 5k race, 4 miles, 5 miles, 10k race. Times will be recorded for the 5k and 10k so runners can track their progress.
All participants will receive a performance T shirt. The runs will be held on the rail trail unless the surface is icy. In this case, the runs will be held on a plowed, quiet neighborhood road. Runs will take place regardless of weather, and an email will be sent out each week as to the location and course of the run. It will be dark, so headlamps and flashlights are highly encouraged. All ages are welcome.
This running club is meant to foster relationships among cold weather runners of all abilities and to inspire runners to start the year off on the right foot and with others supporting them in their journey. There’s no gym like the outdoors, and you don’t need a treadmill to be a part of this group. (Everyone on the treadmill is missing out anyway.) The price will be low, the spirits will be high, and it will be one of the most affordable and encouraged programs around to kickoff the New Year!
Registration is capped at 40 runners, so sign up today! The price will increase on Dec 1, 2021.
