Leprechaun-a-Thon 5K  and  2 Mi. Health Walk

Rome, GA

Saturday, March 19, 2022

 

Start Location: First Avenue near Bridgepoint Plaza

Finish Location: Pedestrian Bridge leading to the Forum and the Town Green

Run: Run begins approximately at 7:30 p.m.

Health Walk: Walk begins approximately at 7:45 p.m.

Race Certification: The 5K course is certified by USA Track and Field, (Certification # GA20019WC), and is also a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.

Registration: Registration is now open. You can register online at runsignup.com or visit 1 Shorter Avenue to register in person. The cost for the 5K Run is $25 and the cost of the 2 Mile Heath Walk is $20. Registration closes on Sunday, March 13 at 11 p.m. After Sunday, March 13, late registration can only be done in person at 1 Shorter Avenue. Late registration costs are $35 for the 5K Run and the Health Walk.

Race News: All relevant race news will be posted on our web site at www.rfpra.com and our social media accounts at Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Race news will also be sent to the email address used for race registration, so be sure to use an email address you can access. Groups will have an email sent to the group member who registered them and that person will be responsible for contacting the group members of any changes. 

Group Registration: We offer a discount for groups of 10 or more, who register for the walk or run. Group Registration closes on Friday, March 4. There is no late registration for groups.

Group registration:

     Cost is $15 for the 2 Mi. Walk and $20 for the 5K Run. The group discount will not apply during half-off week, however everyone in the group can register at the half-off price.

     One person in the group will be responsible for packet pick-up and communication if race, walk times or events change.

     Groups with 25 or more registered walkers or runners can have their packets and race shirts delivered to their business. That group’s packets, numbers and shirts will be boxed or bagged and delivered on Wednesday, March 16. It is the group’s responsibility to distribute the packets once they have been dropped off. We can only deliver to businesses in Rome. Those groups who qualify for delivery need to contact alredj@floydcountyga.org by Thursday, March 10. 

​​Packet Pickup: Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will host packet pick-up the week leading up to the race. Groups can pick up packets on Thursday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Everyone else can pick up packets on Friday, March 18. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Late registration will be accepted in-person only on those days as well. 

Awards:

  • The awards ceremony will start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
  • Race awards will be handed out at the Town Green postrace.
  • First Overall (male & female); Top Master (male & female); and Top Grandmaster (male & female) receive awards.
  • The top finishers in each age group below receive awards.
  • Age Groups: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

­Walk Details: The walk begins on First Avenue and covers portions of the Kingfisher Trail and the levee before finishing on the pedestrian bridge in front of the Forum and the Town Green. The walk is approximately two miles. There are no awards for the walk.

Run Details: The run begins on First Avenue before covering portions of the Kingfisher Trail and levee system behind Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Headquarters and finishes on pedestrian bridge near the Forum and the Town Green.

Starting Line: The starting area is near the intersection of First Avenue and Broad Street just down from Bridge Point Plaza. 

Post Race: There will be Body Armor sport drink and water at the Town Green as well as fruit and snacks. As long as COVID protocols allow, we will have foam on the Town Green and a Leprechaun Dance Party post race and walk. 

Water: There will be one water station on the course. 

Weather, COVID or other issues: All attempts will be made for the race and walk to run as scheduled. This is a rain or shine event. The race and walk will follow any COVID protocols in place at the time of the event. If the race has to be postponed for a weather event or new COVID protocols released by the government, we will schedule a make-up day and time and communicate this information through media channels, our social media accounts, our website and via the email address registrants entered on their forms.

Costume Contest: We will have a fun pre-race costume contest and have more details about it closer to race day.
