Event Description

The 2nd Annual ROC Indoor Triathlon will be held on multiple weekends in 2023 (Saturday March 27th and Saturday April 1st) at the beautiful Louis Wolk Jewish Community Center (aka...the JCC) with the results being announced on April 1st.

In sequential triathlon order (swim/bike/run), it will be a timed event with total distance being the metric to decide winners.   Waves starts of 10 athletes will begin at 4:00pm, sharp!  In fairness to everyone, waves will be randomly selected just prior to the event so athletes must be available to participant at any time. Athletes may also be needed as volunteers to count for their fellow competitors in waves before or after completion of their own event.

• Swim: A 5-lane lap pool where 2 athletes will split one lane and swim as many laps as possible. To keep it simple, only completed laps will be counted into the athletes swim distance. (15mins)
• Bike: Using a stationary bike, athletes will spin as hard as they can to rack up distance. Athletes can adjust the knobs to increase the amount of wattage to impact distance. Bikes will be calibrated as best as possible for a fair competition. (15mins)
• Run: Using a treadmill, athletes will run as fas as they safely can. Treadmills will be calibrated as best as possible for a fair competition. (15mins)

Competitive Understanding: We will do our absolute best to calculate the distances based upon the information recorded and submitted by volunteers, which might differ from the athletes watch.  Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

Tie-Breaker: In the unlikely event of a tie in total distance, total KW on the stationary bike will be used to determine the winners.

Total race time is 45 minutes.  Transition time will be discounted, however each discipline will start exactly 5 minutes after the previous one ended.

Volunteers will be on hand to monitor and record lap swims, spin bikes, and treadmill runs then report those results to the race officials.

Awards: On April 1st, our wonderful sponsors from Heroes Brewing Company will be hosting the athletes and guests starting at 7PM, where the distances will be tallied and the award winners will be revealed. Winners will be selected by gender but age-groups will be determined by the registration pool.  Overall winners will receive a Free Entry into the 2023 Rochester Triathlon: NY State Championships.
