About: Dalton Dash 5 miler is a revitalized race that happened years ago in Dalton, PA and was brought back to life in 2021. At it's return, 65 runners took to the start line for the first time in over 20 years! We are aiming for 200 runners in 2022! 100% of proceeds from the race are used for the beautification of Dalton! As an example, 2021's proceeds were used for Christmas lights in the town square. We love highlighting our local community and putting resources back directly into our area.
WALKERS ARE WELCOME! - We had a decent representation of walkers in 2021 and welcome all fitness levels. We have instituted a generous cut-off time to accommodate.

Course Description: Considered one of the harder 5 milers in the area. The course consists of 5.25 miles with 302 feet of elevation change confined mostly to the first half of the course. There are some formidable hills to tackle before letting you ride a nice tapered downhill to the finish (we think you'll enjoy the fast finish)! With only 5 turns, ample signage, and even volunteers at each turn, there's not concern of getting off course. There will be 2 water stations on the course along with bananas! Local Dalton Police will help in managing traffic for the duration of the race. This course contains some of the most beautiful roads and countryside views in our area and is very picturesque running!
Course record: David Haines (2021) 27:18
1st-3rd place male and female (overall) will receive a prize and medal.
Race Day: Start and finish will be located across from the Dalton Fire Company in Platt Park. The race will begin promptly at 7:30AM. Pre-registration and pre-payment will be required (sorry, no race day registration). Come to the square in Dalton at Platt Park and find the check-in tent. Upon check-in, you will receive a race shirt and your bib for keeping track of your finish time. Course cut-off: 9:20AM.
Prizes and awards will be handed out after the close of the race (9:20am). As May weather in Pennsylvania can vary, please bring a light jacket to keep warm after the race.
We love the local connection this race brings. After the race is over, be sure to stay for the annual reading of the town veterans' names across the street at Daltons memorial park to keep the significance of the holiday at the center of our day!
Parking can be utilized along the road in downtown Dalton along with the parking lot behind the Dalton Fire Company.
Looking forward to having an even larger group this coming spring!
