This is a MEET AT EVENT: Coastal Roots Farm; Encinitas, CA

We are working to keep your children’s minds working during spring break! Join Community Recreation for a visit to the farm for a dynamic and hands-on STEM workshop.  Experience first- hand the importance of soil health and how farmers influence the soil to impact what grows. Lunch will be served at the end of the workshop! Lunch included! 

Children will:

Learn the importance and function of each plant part and how we can enjoy all of them in a tasty farm fresh treat.

Students will:

Observe and draw different plant structures
Learn each plant part’s main function
Identify fruits and veggies that represent each of the plant parts
Transfer Goal: To understand different plant structures, their specialized roles in the plant system, and how humans utilize them.

In order to ensure all participants’ comfortability and safety, please make sure that everyone arrives at the Farm with the following:  

·         Clothes they don't mind getting dirty  

·         Closed-toed shoes  

·         Face mask (at this point we are still requiring all guests to wear masks) 

·         Weather protection (ie. Sunhat, sunscreen, rain jacket/umbrella, layers) 

·         A reusable water bottle

Lunch: 1:00 pm-1:30 pm

Directions and Parking: 

On the day of your trip, cars can enter through 441 Saxony Road. Please have drivers check in with the security guard and park in the Apple parking lot on the right-hand side. Once parked, have students, accompanied by their chaperone, walk back towards the Farm and meet the Education Team on the Farm Green for the start of the program. 

 

*This is not a drop off program.  Parents must remain on property but will not be participating in this program.*
