Event Description

The Poplar Bluff Independence Day 5K takes place on the greenway trail in Kiwanis Club’s Bacon Memorial Park and the Hendrickson Park in Poplar Bluff, MO. Participants will travel on paved, gravel and dirt trail surfaces. The run begins and ends at Bacon Memorial Park near the Pershing Street parking lot. Participants will travel through Hendrickson Park to enjoy the scenery and a quick jaunt on the park’s gravel trail, before finishing the course back at Bacon Memorial Park.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Poplar Bluff Trails Coalition, an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to plan, promote, build, and maintain trails in the greater Poplar Bluff, Missouri region. The event will feature live music, snacks, and awards! You won’t want to miss this fun pet and family friendly event!  

Event details and schedule

We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before the race time (8am). Parking is available at Bacon Park off Harper Street and Pershing Street. Overflow parking may park in the Planet Fitness/Key Drugs Plaza. Dress for the weather. We will have this event rain or shine- there will be no refunds if the race is canceled due to extreme weather. Please check in at the registration table before the race. Light snacks and water will be provided at the end of the race. We look forward to seeing you there!

The race beings near the Pershing Street parking area and heads south towards Harper Street then to the Oak Grove natural surface trail, finish the bacon Park loop and take the connector trail to Hendrickson Park. Take a right at the park’s entrance to run on the gravel portion of the trail. Then down the hill, turn right to gray street and turn around there. The journey back begins as the runner exits Hendrickson Park, runs on the connector trail then counterclockwise on the Oak Grove trail. The Participant will have a smooth, flat surface to the finish- right where it all began!
