Event Description
Skagit Bicycle Club's 30th Annual Skagit Spring Classic Bicycle Ride is back better than ever after a 2 year hiatus due to COVID. Starting from Bayview Elementary routes from 25 to 100 miles will include the flat roads in the Skagit Valley and for the longer distances more challenging routes that climb Chuckanut Drive with beautiful views of the Salish Sea, Mount Baker and towering evergreens.
Class 1 and Class 3 ebikes (ebikes that must be pedaled for the assist to be activated) will be welcome.
Because of restrictions from our insurance carrier Class 2 ebikes (throttle ebikes that do not require pedaling to move) will not be allowed.
The ride is fully supported with a well marked course, SAG vehicles and rest stops sumptuously stocked with homemade cookies and lots of other goodies. After the ride participants will be provided a freshly made sandwich and a coupon for a craft beer from Farmstrong Brewery.
Event details and schedule
Registration will start at 7 am. Everything will be shut down by 4 pm so plan to complete your chosen route within this time frame. There is plenty of free parking. Rest rooms will be availble at the start finish. Due to Covid no showers this year. A freshly made sandwich and a coupon for a free beer at Farmstrong Brewing will be available after the ride.
Course maps will be available at the start or you can download them here. Bring a bike in good working order, although there will be a mechanic on duty at the start for last minute emergencies. Make sure you a have good fitting, proper bicycle helmet. SAG vehicles will patrol the routes until 4 pm but barring an accident or illness plan on finishing your chosen route under your own power.
With an abundance of caution, the Skagit Bicycle Club is looking at multiple ways to make this Skagit Spring Classic as safe as possible. The ride will go on as planned unless we are directed by State Health or other officials not to hold the ride because of COVID-19, in which case refunds will be made to all pre-registered riders.
But most of all plan on having a great time with a few hundred of your bicycling friends on the beautiful roads of Skagit County!
