Event Description

Whether you're team cat or team dog... a road runner or a trail runner... Sneaker Mutt and Eastern Dutchess Road Runners Club invite you to lace up and use your feet to help paws on May 22, 2022 at Wilcox Memorial Park for a Fun-Run-draiser like no other...

The first annual DIRTY PAWS & CLAWS 2X5K RELAY CHALLENGE benefitting the DCSPCA!

What's a Relay?

A RELAY is a race where runners compete as a team rather than an individual. Each team member takes a turn running a LEG (equal distances of a racecourse) then passes a baton to the next runner to continue the race.

What's the Dirty Paws & Claws 2X5K Relay Challenge?

In the case of the Dirty Paws and Claws 2X5K Relay Challenge we wanted to see what would happen if we teamed up road runners with trail runners and had them each run a 5K LEG, all while carrying their Team Baton (aka: dog/cat stuffy) to the finish! The first 5K LEG is on the road and the second 5K LEG is on the trail, with a baton exchange zone between the 2 LEGS.  This is a chip timed race with a gun start. The race is limited to 50 TEAMS of 2 runners (any combination of age/gender) What Team will be crowned Dutchess County's Ultimate 5K Running Duo?

Registration

Teams are made up of 2 runners, any combination of age/gender.  At the time of registration Teams are required to have a team name (make it paw-some!!)  One team member will be responsible for registering both team members. You will need to have your teammates info ready: address, email, phone# and shirt size ladies cut/unisex options.

QUESTIONS???

CAN I BRING MY DOG? Yes! Wilcox Park is dog friendly. Dogs must be leashed at all times, are not allowed in water areas, and are to be cleaned up after.

CAN I RUN MY 5K LEG WITH MY DOG? No! Dogs can't run with you but they can cheer for you.

HOW HARD ARE THE 5K LEGS? Let's just say the are not fast and flat ;) Wilcox Park has hills. Yes, it might be challenging but that's what makes for a fun memorable time with running buddies! In the end it's really all about coming together as a running community to raise money for our furry friends at the DCSPCA by doing what we love... RUNNING!

CAN I BE A SPONSOR or VOLUNTEER? YES!!! We would love to have you as a sponsor or as a volunteer. Contact Cindy@sneakermutt.com for more information or fill out our contact form below.
