Event Description

We invite you to register for a unique race experience benefitting the Pilot Club of Quitman, a non-profit charitable organization focused on brain health.  “The Great Dam Race”, a 5K, will be held on May 21, 2022, at the SRA Lake Fork Reservoir during the 2022 Simms Bassmaster Elite Fishing Tournament. This race offers the rare opportunity to view Lake Fork from the top of the dam, which is generally closed to the public. The flat 5K course runs along the top of the dam.   The 5K timed race will be followed by an untimed 1-Mile Family Fun Walk/Run across on the dam.

After the race there will be several opportunities to join in other free family fun during the Bassmaster Elite:

  • Bicycle Rodeo and Puppet show for 1st and 2nd graders
  • Fishing at the Kid’s Catfish Tank and viewing fish at the Hawg Trough Bass Tank Exhibit
  • Free concert - featuring Bobby Irwin.  In 2021 at the FFA Texas State Convention, Bobby won first place in the Talent Competition with the People’s Choice and the Delegates’ Vote (a first in FFA Texas State Convention history).
  • Saturday Weigh in @ 3:00pm for the Elite Bassmaster fishermen

Quitman Pilot Club is an all-volunteer chapter of Pilot International with the mission of educating for the prevention of traumatic brain injury and offering services to those suffering from brain related disorders, such as Alzheimer's, Stroke, and Autism.
