Event Description
WHAT
The Lutzie 43 Road Race is in its 7th year and was started as the initial fundraiser for the Lutzie 43 Foundation. The Lutzie 43 Foundation was established in loving memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen, shortly after his death in 2014. The objective of the foundation is to inspire people to make better decisions as drivers and friends, using Philip’s life and legacy to inspire change. The foundation’s motto for drivers is to “Live like Lutz, Love like Lutz, and Learn from Lutz,” reflecting our desire to help others live out the many positive character attributes that Philip displayed while learning from the circumstances that led to his death.
The Lutzie 43 Foundation exists to reduce the number of distracted driving incidents, ultimately diminishing the number of deaths caused by unsafe driving. The foundation fulfills this mission by encouraging and empowering all drivers to be positive ambassadors for safe driving, carried out through our 43 Key Seconds initiative.
EVENT DETAILS
The 5K will be on Saturday, August 6 and begin and end on the 43 yard line on Lutzie Field at Frank Fillman Stadium, Lassiter High School (2601 Shallowford Rd, Marietta, GA 30066). The race begins at 8:00 am followed by a kids 100 yard fun run.
COURSE
The course is an up and down loop course through neighborhoods adjacent to Lassiter High School.
AWARDS
Awards will be given for top 3 finishers of each age category for Male & Female. We will also award the top overall Male & Female winners of the race.
The age categories are 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.
TSHIRTS
T-shirts are guaranteed to all registrations received. Please note, all virtual runners who have registered AFTER 11:59pm on Friday, 7/29 WILL NOT receive their shirt in time for race day.
PARKING
There will be plenty of parking at Lassiter High School (2601 Shallowford Rd, Marietta, GA 30066). The best parking is at the Lassiter High School football stadium lot off of Steinhauer Road. If it is full there is plenty of parking in front of Lassiter High School at the main entrance.
WEATHER
The race will happen rain or shine. Be prepared to run in any weather. Only in the cases of extreme weather will changes to the race schedule occur. Please check the Lutzie 43 website (www.lutzie43.org) or on Lutzie 43 social media on race morning for real-time updates on the status of the race if there is severe weather.
REGISTRATION
Online registration closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday, August 3rd. After online registration closes you have two opportunities to sign up for the race:
1) Packet pick-up at Lucia’s Italian Restaurant (4705 Woodstock Road Roswell, GA 30075) on Friday, August 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm
2) Race morning from 7:00 - 7:40 am in the Lassiter High School gym lobby.
Race day registration will be Venmo or charge only. $43 for adults and $30 for students.
Please note, all virtual runners who have registered AFTER 11:59pm on Friday, 7/29 WILL NOT receive their shirt in time for race day.
REFUNDS
No refunds or transfers from person-to-person or year-to-year. While we understand schedules change and things come up, we have a strict no-refund and transfer policy. Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to extreme conditions such as weather. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of the race cancellation due to “Acts of God" or things outside of the control of the Race Director.
PACKET PICK-UP
Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, August 5, from 5 pm – 7 pm at Lucia’s Italian Restaurant (4705 Woodstock Road Roswell, GA 30075). You may also pick up your bib number and t-shirt on race morning between at 7-7:40 am at the Lassiter High School gym lobby.

TIMING
Live Results will be accessible via QR code found on your race bib when you cross the finish line.
The race will be timed by Elite Race Timing. Each participant will receive a race bib with a timing chip attached to the bib. Results will be provided at the finish line and will be posted to Elite’s website immediately following the race at www.eliteracetiming.com.
WATER STATIONS
We will have several water stations on the course. Runners are encouraged to bring water bottles with them. Additional water and post-race snacks will be available at the finish line.
DOGS/STROLLERS
Dogs and strollers are allowed on the course and at the Start/Finish line. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
FIRST AID
In case of an emergency, please immediately notify one of our volunteers or a police officer.
RESTROOMS
Restrooms are available at the Lassiter High School gym lobby.
