Event Description

On behalf of Crew104, we invite you to join us in supporting the "A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund" for our next challenge, Crew104 "Summer Doubles Distance" Challenge!

Crew104 is working alongside our very own Aquil Abdullah and Arshay Cooper to expand the sport of rowing into under-resourced communities.  The "A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund" is under the George Pocock Rowing Foundation.  To learn more about the foundation, click on the link: https://www.amostbeautifulthing.com/join-us/
There you can find information about the film, A Most Beautiful Thing, adapted from the the memoir by Arshay Cooper about his true life story of being part of the first all African American rowing team in the nation and how they transformed the sport and their lives.

All moneys raised by the fund focuses on educating athletes and coaches across the country on the importance of making sure there is access and inclusion within the sport across the country and raising awareness of the benefits it offers student athletes- particularly in underserved and minority communities.  It will also provide scholarships for team fees, equipment, transportation, and other fees that may make this sport not affordable for these student athletes.

We will be working in teams of 2.  Each person will alternate the distance rowed starting at the longest distance and stopping at the shortest.  Each row has to be of a faster split than their partner's last row.  The distances in meters are: 10K, 6K, 5K, 4K, 3K, 2K, 1K, 500, and 250.  The dates are June 1st-15th.  The rows must be completed from start to finish within 12 hours during those dates.  You will submit photos of your rows on the website.

We are all lucky to be a part of this great community and have the opportunity to be exposed to this great sport and learn from these amazing athletes.  Let's help support the "A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund" and Mr. Arshay Cooper and Aquil Abudullah in bringing their passion for this great sport to youth throughout the country who wouldn't otherwise get the chance.

Thank you Crew104 for joining the "Summer Doubles Distance" challenge and supporting the "A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund"!!
