Event Description
Join us for the Houston Tipping Memorial Bike Ride. LAPD Officer Houston Tipping tragically died while instructing bicycle school at the Los Angeles Police Academy. This memorial ride will serve as an opportunity to honor his memory and raise funds for his family.
The ride will begin at the LAPD Elysian Park Academy, travel through Griffith Park before the first rest stop at the North Hollywood Police Station, where refreshments and bathrooms will be provided. The ride will resume and travel through the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area before arriving at Devonshire Division, Officer Tipping's last division of assignment.
This ride will be led by a police escort at a pace of approximately 15 mph to keep the majority of the group together. There will be lunch available to purchase, live music, static displays, and vendor booths at Devonshire Station. There will also be snacks, and beverages for those that will continue back to the police academy.

Registration opens at 630am at the LAPD Elysian Park Academy
Ride will begin at 8am
Limited parking will be available at LAPD Elysian Park Academy, there is plenty of street parking available. Carpooling is suggested.
All cyclists must wear helmets, headphones are not allowed. Make sure you are self sufficient on the ride. Know or have a copy of the route, and make sure you have an extra inner tube in case you get a flat.
Please ensure your bicycle is in good working order prior to the ride. Mechanics will be available to change flats and other minor equipment adjustments during the ride. If you do need mechanical help, please tip your mechanic as they are volunteering.
