ABOUT US
We are Locals. We are Runners. We think Oregon is GORGEOUS. We take pride in doing things a bit differently, as well as creating races that prove it.
The Gorgeous Series, founded by Kerry Loehr and Traci Manning, is now owned and directed by Alexa Hasman and Zina Parks - coaches, athletes, and runners of multiple relay races and half, full, and ultra marathons. The series started with the Gorgeous Relay--a one day, one van, 6 person running relay race starting outside Cascade Locks, OR and ending in Portland, OR. The response for this type of relay has been overwhelming. Teams love the fact that they get to sleep in their own beds when it's done. Hearing the demand for more, the Gorgeous Series was born.
Today, the Gorgeous Series includes five one-day relays in the most Gorgeous places in Oregon. Gorgeous Runners love the scenery, community and camaraderie of the races and we know you will too! We’d love to have you join us!
The relays reflect what the Gorgeous Series, and Gorgeous Runners, are all about:
Community –The relays are designed to show off our Gorgeous state and to support the towns, businesses, and organizations that make it special. We partner with local businesses, vendors and sponsors. We’re respectful of the places we run through, pick up after ourselves, drive like our kids live there, and waive to the neighbors.
Supporting runners – the courses are designed to be safe and accessible to all runners. If you have a runner that wants to charge all the hills, let her have them! And, if you have a new runner, it’s okay if he just runs the short leg. Sounds great to us, we just want you to get out there. Gorgeous Runners love supporting other teams on the course and making new friends along the way. Sure, you may have a friendly competition going with the fast team in the next van, but you’re still going to ring the cowbell for them!
Giving back – This really matters to us. Our Gorgeous Series family is a representation of the communities in which we work, live, and explore.We partner with fantastic local nonprofits and organizations to volunteer and raise money at the relays, make donations to community organizations, advise nonprofits on their running events, and we love to share the story of these amazing groups with our runners.
