Event Description

This inaugural race will benefit The Literacy Project of North Idaho, an organization helping those in our community to improve their literacy skills.  We are a volunteer driven nonprofit, and 100% of these proceeds are used to support our program and our learners.

Our 5k, Kids Dash, and community event will entail a morning of activities for the whole family.  In addition to the running/walking event, we will hold our annual book sale or swap.  Bring in a book to swap for one or buy another for a $1.  We will have baked goods on hand from around the world for purchase and a fun day in the park with activities for the morning even if you chose not to enjoy the course!

About Us: One in seven adults nationwide cannot read a newspaper, a job application, or a prescription bottle. This is a shocking statistic for communities around our country.  Adults with low literacy skills are parents, neighbors, employees, and friends.  This statistic tells us that each of us are likely to know someone who cannot read or write.  Our mission is to change that.  Through The Literacy Project of North Idaho we are creating programs and resources to help adults achieve their literacy goals.

Course: What better way to explore our small communities than on our feet!   Our course starts in beautiful Black Bay Park in Post Falls and will continue via the Idaho Centennial Trail through downtown Post Falls and back hanging a right at the Community Garden. Within the park we will enjoy running along side the river and the bay. Along the course we will take a running tour of downtown, city hall and the great business and restaurants along the way.

We will also hold the Kids Dash for kids 12 and under.  This course will stay within the park.

Kids 5 and under participate in any event FREE!
