Event Description

Friends of the Saranac River Trail and the City of Plattsburgh invite you to join them in celebration of the Saranac River Trail (SRT) 10-year anniversary. To commemorate this anniversary, a 5k run/walk (The SRTX!) has been scheduled for September 24 at 9am.

The SRTX course will begin at the new footbridge at the end of Durkee street, heading west on the SRT up to the college (behind University Police), and back to the start using the same route. Awards will be given to the top three men and women, and each runner will receive a commemoritive SRTX t-shirt (if registered before 9/18).

The 5k will be timed by race-timing company Adirondack Coast Events, and all proceeds raised will go to continuing the interpretive signage, future grant match opportunities and long-term support.

Friends of the SRT is a grass-roots group formed to develop and promote the tourist, recreational, commercial, historical and natural opportunities of the Saranac River Trail. This group was created more than 10 years ago, and was pivotal in the creation and management of the city’s portion of the SRT, including the Max Moore Memorial Treehouse, located on Pine Street near the Plattsburgh City Police station. The 1.3-mile trail connects the City of Plattsburgh
Saranac Street bridge to Plattsburgh High School and runs through SUNY Plattsburgh’s campus.
