First organized in 1975, the Run Around the Block 15K Road Race is one of the oldest races in Rhode Island as well as
New England. The timed race is a hilly, winding run along mostly paved roads with a stretch of dirt road that appears
twice during the route. It begins at Isaac's Corner near Fresh Pond and ends at Fred Benson Town Beach Pavilion where
there will be food, drinks and a refreshing dip in the ocean available as well as bathroom and shower facilities. **the race course has been changed to accommodate the new finish line**
The 15K race is challenging as the mid-day start can be hot and the course is hilly. There are water stops provided along the route and signage to direct you along the country roads. The rural seaside views along the course are beautiful and a great contrast to the bustle of Old and New Harbors. The finish line at Fred Benson Town Beach is within sight of Old Harbor and the ferries to Rhode Island and Connecticut.
You will need to take a ferry or plane to reach Block Island. Accommodations should be reserved early if you plan to stay overnight.

Event details and schedule
The Run Around the Block 15K Road Race has a 1:30 start time. We suggest that you plan to arrive on
island with plenty of time to make your way up to the starting line.
The 15K route begins at Isaac's Corner near Fresh Pond. Parking is available at Heinz Field just down the road.
Please present your ID to the volunteers at Isaac's Corner check in to receive your number, T-shirt and any instructions.
In person registration and check in will be available on Friday September 9th from 4:00 to 6:30 and also at the starting
line from noon until 1pm
The course has changed this year. Part of the course change has added a length of dirt road (Old Mill Road) which runners
will travel along twice in the course of the race. The second change to the course is that instead of turning into Champlin's Marina, runners will continue to Veterans Park where they will take a right up Center Road, then a left onto Beach Avenue. Runners will run the entire length of Beach Avenue, then take a left again onto Corn Neck Road and finish the race by turning right into the south parking lot at Fred Benson Town Beach.
A box truck will be available at the starting line for runners to stow their belongings in. Items should be well marked with your name and cell phone number. There will be limited room for bicycles on a first come basis.
Early registrants will enjoy the lower fee of just $25.
Early registration ends July 15, 2022.
Those who then register before August 31th will pay $30.
After September 1st the registration fee is $35.
