Event Description

We are excited to kick-off our 1st virtual 5k for ALSP. Your support and participation will help us raise much needed funds for research while also raising awareness for ALSP.

From September 24 - October 4, grab your sneakers and a group of friends to run a virtual 5k. Prefer running alone? That's ok. Prefer walking? That's ok too. Don't like the great outdoors? Use a treadmill. Don't know how long a 5k is? 3.1 miles.

What is ALSP?
Adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia (ALSP) is a rare neurological condition caused by an autosomal dominant genetic mutation in the CSF1R (colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor) gene. ALSP is characterized by symptoms of reduced cognitive function and mobility.

ALSP affects people around the world. A virtual 5k is a great way to show support no matter where you live. Symptoms of ALSP typically begin in adulthood around the age of 43. ALSP is a memory and movement disorder so those diagnosed with the disease will lose the ability to walk, run and move. This rare disease currently has no approved treatment options available, so patients are left to treat the symptoms as they occur.

Help us spread the word about ALSP by sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, co-workers, and running groups. Make sure to share our posts on social media.

Prizes: The first 5 people to sign-up will receive a free Sisters' Hope Foundation long-sleeve running shirt and maybe some incentive swag along the way. You won't know unless you sign-up!
