Event Description
Join ophthalmologists, eye bankers, corneal transplant recipients, and donor family members to support EBAA’s mission to restore sight through cornea donation and transplantation. Sponsored by Bausch + Lomb, EBAA is once again hosting our annual Run for Vision. This year, you can participate in person in Chicago on October 2 or within your own community any time from October 2 until November 30.
Live 5K Event
If you are attending the AAO conference in Chicago, join us for this time-honored tradition of running along the lakefront with your fellow conference goers. The 5k will take place on Sunday, October 2nd at 6:30am. The 5k will take place on Sunday, October 2nd at 6:30am. We will provide shuttle transportation from select AAO meeting hotels to/from the race site on the shores of Lake Michigan
Virtual 5K Event
If you can’t join us in person, you can join us in spirit while running in your own community. Simply complete a 5K run any time from Sunday, October 2nd through the end of November and submit your time to this website. Run more than once and submit all your times; we'll count your best time, and you'll only pay one entry fee. All virtual runners will receive the same race shirt, along with bragging rights for supporting our mission to restore sight. If you'd prefer to support EBAA without actually running, that's OK too. Once you’ve registered, you don't need to submit a time, or even get off the couch; we’ll just mail the shirt directly to your home. What you tell your friends and family is up to you!
Run as a Team
The only thing better than supporting the gift of sight is doing it with your friends and colleagues. Use the Run for Vision as a team building or community outreach initiative for your eye bank and ophthalmic practice and help spread awareness of the importance of corneal donation and transplantation. To encourage you to run as part of a team, we will take 30% off the registration fee for all teams of three or more.
Regardless of how you participate, your entire contribution will help EBAA restore sight to blind and visually-impaired individuals in the U.S. and around the world through cornea transplantation and research. That’s because a generous grant from the Bausch + Lomb Foundation underwrites all our race expenses, so 100% of your registration fee comes directly to us.
