Event Description

Please join us for the inaugural running of the Renée Pickard Memorial 4.5 Mile Race in Moravian Falls on November 19, 2022. Renée, a longtime resident and friend to many in Wilkesboro, passed away unexpectedly while competing in the Grand Circle Trailfest, a tough 3-day trail running event that took place in Kanab, Utah last fall.

In memory of Renee's passion and dedication to running and wellness, the course for this event was designed to follow one of Renée's favorite routes to run. It features a very steep incline along Price Road that will challenge all comers. We have no doubt that had Renée herself chosen the course for a race, this would be the one.

The race is a challenging 4.5 mile uphill run. Walkers and runners welcome! Start line will be at the Pore's Knob Community Center (229 Price Road Moravian Falls, NC 28654) The finish line will await you at the top of the mountain at Perry Lowe Orchards, along with a cold beverage and a cup of warm soup! Personal bag drop-off will be available at the start line so personal belongings will be available at the finish line. A shuttle will be available to return to your vehicle after the race. 

All proceeds from this event will benefit children for the Wilkes Family YMCA Kids on the Run 5K training program held each summer.
