Event Description
Carver Hills, one of the many neighborhoods inside the city limits of Doraville, has a unique distinction of being a historical African American community. When first arriving in Doraville, General Motors purchased the land from black landowners. To help those families relocate, Carver Hills was established in 1949 on 150 acres. 60 years later and much of this neighborhood has since been redeveloped and interstate 285 runs through the center of its original footprint. Only one of the original streets remains. The City of Doraville’s Celebration Committee has chosen to recognize and celebrate with this neighborhood in a 5k run/walk. Join us at 8am on September 10th to help raise funds for a plaque recognizing the importance of this neighborhood.
