Event Description

WHAT

Loop the Loop for Epilepsy is 2.6 Mile Walk around The Loop at Wrightsville Beach.

The event is the vision of Hoggard High School student Isabella, who has been diagnosed with Benign Rolandic Epilepsy.

All proceeds from this walk will go to the North Carolina Epilepsy Alliance's Medication Fund. Epilepsy medications are expensive, often costing more than $1,500 to $3,000 or more a month. For those not covered by insurance or other programs, these costs are often prohibitive. Most affected are the working poor, however, in recent years the middle class has also been impacted by the loss of jobs and high insurance co-pays. No words properly convey the importance of this Fund. It saves lives, prevents hospitalizations, injuries, and emotional turmoil. The Medication Fund is a priority of the Epilepsy Alliance NC as the economy has declined, leaving many folks without jobs and insurance. One hundred percent of all donations to this Fund go directly to the purchase of medication.
