Event Description

October is National Dental Hygiene month, a time to celebrate the hard work of all registered dental hygienists. This year, Delta Pacific Dental Hygienists' Association (DPDHA) is honored to host a 3-week virtual walk that will raise awareness of the benefits of dental prevention and promote access to quality dental care to our community.

Please join us on October 1-21 for our very first virtual fun walk fundraiser - Walktober 2022: A Mile a Day, A Smile a Day. You choose where to do it and how long you want to walk or run for. Even though this event is "virtual," feel free to meet up with friends, colleagues and family to stay active together. 

By registering for this race, you'll help us implement new dental outreach projects for the underserved population in our community. In addition, your participation will help our community of dental hygienists get connected and grow together to bring awareness to the importance of oral health care. 

During these three weeks, we will have dental hygiene resources posted on our social media platforms (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dpdha and Instagram: @dpdha_) and/or emailed for our participants to learn and share with their communities. Stay tuned for surprises and giveaways! 

Since our in-person events have been postponed due to the pandemic, we are excited to announce our first fun meet up event to celebrate this fundraiser! After our 3-week virtual walk, we will have an in-person gathering on Saturday, October 22 to celebrate our health achievement and even get to meet those we've been virtually walking/running with!  The time and location will be announced soon. The first 21 registrants will receive a free "Miles for Smiles" bracelet specially made for us by a Special Olympic Athlete and Special Olympics ambassador!
