Event Description
Jake Peter Whatley “Mr. Big” blessed our lives with his presence and his big fun and positive spirit. On June 2, 2021, we tragically lost Jake in a drowning accident which has left a long impactful impression on each of us. Jake was a gymnast since he was three years old, and was a very talented athlete. As a level 10 gymnasts he competed at regionals in April 2021 and at the USA Gymnastics Developmental Program National Championships in May 2021 (His competition number was 736). He was a member of the Nationally ranked Roswell Gymnastics program.
We have created the “Mr. Big’s” Flippin’ 5k which will be held November 12th at Riverside Park in Roswell, GA as a way to continue Jake’s support for the gymnastics community and to honor his memory. Race day Registration starts at 7 am. The Fun Run starts at 7:30 am. The 5k Race/Walk will start promptly at 8 am.

WHAT IS A JAKE RUNNER: A Jake Runner is someone that wants to support the race/team but does not want to run. This is also known as a "Ghost Runner."
WHAT IS THE FUN RUN: The fun run is for the younger guys that don't think they can run a full 5k. The course will be set up in the staging area.

EARLY PACKET PICK UP: Roswell Gymnastics, 10495 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 on November 10th from 5pm to 8 pm.
DAY OF RACE PICK UP: Starting at 7:00AM
RACE STARTS:
- 5k - 8:00AM
- Fun Run - 8:30AM
AWARDS: Awards will be given to the top 1st place overall male and female, 1st place overall masters male and female, and male and female finishers plus 3 deep in standard 5 year age groups for ages 14+. Additional age groups will include ages 5-7, 8-10, 11-13.
