Event Description
WHAT:
The Run for Carly Rae 5K Run & 1 Mile Run/Walk is to honor the life of Carly Rae Baron, who tragically lost her life to gun violence in 2020. Carly Rae was a beautiful person, who enjoyed basketball, modeling and spending time with her family and friends. Carly Rae was a graduate of Eugene Ashley High School and good friends with current Pittsburgh Steelers Linebacker Alex Highsmith.
The Alex Highsmith Family Foundation has created a scholarship that would help keep Carly Rae's memory alive for years to come. With the blessings of the Baron Family, the scholarship will begin in the 2022-2023 school year.
Besides hosting this race, the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation will also be raffling off 2 tickets to the Carolina Panthers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game in Charlotte on December 18, 2022!

HOW TO REGISTER:
Register Before the Race: Click on the SIGN UP button in the upper right corner
Register At Pre-Race Packet Pickup or On Race Day: To register at packet pickup or at the race, we will provide a QR code for you to register on your phone. You can also register online from your phone or device up until the race starts.
PARKING:
Parking is available at the Ashley High School Stadium parking lots. There are two entrances off Halyburton Memorial Parkway: (1) Stadium Drive near Carolina each Road, (2) Anderson Elementary School Road near River Road.

The Alex Highsmith Family Foundation strives to make a positive impact on the lives of our youth in the Wilmington and Pittsburgh communities. Our 5 pillars, known as the Highsmith High 5, are: Physical Fitness and Nutrition, Athletic Participation, Academic Support, Social/Emotional Support, and Family Involvement. ALL proceeds from the race and Steelers-Panthers tickets raffle will go to fund academic scholarships to seniors in New Hanover County Schools! The Run for Carly Rae 5K race will also help raise awareness of the need to end gun violence in our community!
