Event Description

We’re excited to announce our next volunteer fundraising opportunity, which will be the Los Angeles Chargers vs the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Football game at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, September 25th.

Note: Event logistics including required training (can be completed online) will be provided closer to the event date. The times currently listed are an approximation for the event. 

Over the years, California Triathlon volunteers have helped us raise thousands of dollars for our nonprofit, money we would not otherwise have received, that underwrites our efforts to grow participation in triathlon.  We’ve brought our volunteers to concerts and sporting events at the Rose Bowl and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to staff concession stands (selling beer, alcohol, and food, earning a percentage of the sales), including Rams home games through the 2019 season.  Due to the pandemic, we lost the entire 2020 season.  We were slow and cautious about restarting our fundraising activities, sitting out 2021 as well, until coming back in a big way at the Super Bowl this past February. 

Now that we are back in the rotation for events at SoFi Stadium, we can bring our volunteers to concerts, NFL games, and other events.  We brought  fantastic crews to the Paul McCartney concert in May and the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in July.  Now we are into football season. We are planning to work at select Rams and Chargers home games between September and January, starting with Chargers vs Jaguars on 9/25.

Here are your top reasons to volunteer with California Triathlon:

• Support California Triathlon’s Mission: California Triathlon helps grow the sport of triathlon by offering free membership, group training, coaching and other resources.  However, we need to raise money to support our programs.  The money we raise through volunteering underwrites our programs to encourage and empower youth participation in triathlon.  Do it for the kids and for the future of this (multi) sport that we all love!
• Team Building: Make new friends and training partners. Work together to prepare, stock, and serve the thirsty masses!
• Experience the Event from Inside: We’re working but we can still see and hear what happens inside the stadium hours before the gates open and during the event.
• Race for Free: As a thank you for your time and effort, Cal Tri Events is kicking in a free race entry good for any of our 2022 or 2023 races (including Los Angeles, Newport Dunes, Ventura and more).  You can use the entry yourself or give it to a friend.
     

Volunteering is open to California Triathlon members as well as family and friends (18+ please).  

Please also note that there is a nominal $10 registration fee. This helps us cover the cost of training (an online training session is required since we will be serving and selling alcohol), and discourages no shows, which can leave our crew in a difficult position at the event and with our venue partners (so please don’t sign up unless you’re sure you can attend).
