Just on the outskirts of the quaint Town of Pagosa Springs sits an unbecoming hill covered by thick woods, known to locals as Rez Hill. By day, it is full of hikers, mountain bikers and disc golfers. But at night, something emerges from the dark. Shadows dart amongst the trees. Eerie unnatural sounds echo through the woods. Do you dare venture forth and explore the trails of Rez Hill to discover what may lay in wait for you as you run by?
Please joins us for this FREE trail trot ("fun run") up on Rez Hill that will be part of the Halloween festivities happening that day leading up to the fireworks, all thanks to the Pagosa Springs Tourism Board, who are covering the costs of this event.
This will be an untimed trail trot (you can run, walk, or crawl at any pace you want) starting and finishing nearing the Pavilion up on Rez Hill, with a course full of Halloween decorations, eerie sounds, and other surprises along the way. As you progress, there will be "safe harbor" aid stations with different fun themes and refreshments where you will be safe (for the meantime) from the spookiness of the course until you venture forth again. The exact course is still in the works but will be between 2 and 3 miles, all on the trails on top of Rez Hill. Costumes for participants are definitely encouraged!! Also, each participant is REQUIRED TO HAVE A FLASHLIGHT OR HEADLAMP WITH THEM. At that time of year, Rez Hill can get dark very quickly and the trails will not be illuminated during the event, except for glow lights showing the way along the course.
While this is a free event, we are asking participants to register so we have an idea of how much refreshments we will need for the event.
Participants will start in waves with groups of 10 - 15 people starting every 5 minutes or so.
