Event Description

Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida, especially the Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach area and left a path of destruction that will take years to recover from. Apex Promoz will be hosting this event in conjunction with the Collaboratory and United Way to support this community in need. The Collaboratory is a local nonprofit in the heart of downtown Fort Myers that works with other non-profits to provide resources for the community. The Collaboratory has partnered with United Way in their relief efforts so that all of the local relief agencies have adequate resources and funding to support the people in need.

We hope this event creates a fun way to contribute to a community that needs our help. One of the owners of Apex Promoz is a former resident of Fort Myers and moved just four months prior to landfall of Hurricane Ian. We at Apex have a direct connection to this community and many of our friends, neighbors and former colleagues are hurting right now. We hope that you will join us in a fun virtual event to help provide for the residents of Southwest Florida.

This is an in-person race happening at the Florida Agriculture Center and Horse Park near Ocala, FL. The Florida Agriculture Center and Horse Park is a 500-acre, multipurpose facility and one of Central Florida’s premiere venues for equine, agricultural, educational, and sporting events. The park features gravel roads and trails that meander in and out of wooded areas. The 5K course will be a mixed surface course with covering many of the trials on property and taking in the full beauty of the park.

The 5K will take place on Saturday January 14th, 2023 at 8:00am. This will be a family event and runners, walkers, and strollers are all welcome and encouraged to join us! The 5k will be a chip timed event and all participants will receive a commemorative Restore the Fort finisher medal, an Apex Promoz buff, a Restore the Fort tumbler and post-race snacks. This event is a great way for the community to support the people that were devastated by Hurricane Ian and help rebuild their beautiful community.
