Join us for the inaugural Ruck 4 Freedom!


Ruck 4 Freedom is an honorary Ruck where Active Duty Military, Veterans, First Responders and a Community, come together to do something uncomfortable to show our Armed Forces the gratitude we have for our Freedom.

Based off of a Military tradition, participants will have the option to wear a weighted backpack and participate in a 5K Ruck Walk. For those that don't want to wear the ruck you can sign up to run or walk the 5K.

RUCK 4 FREEDOM will give all of us the opportunity to do something hard to give back to those who give have given so much.




Please join us as we walk a 5k. We will all carry a backpack and walk Side by side with our Soldiers, as well as each other.

As a community we are strong, our Freedom is safe, and this will give us the opportunity to show our Service Members, family, and friends that we are willing to give our time and be a little uncomfortable to say thank you.

I invite you to join us, be a sponsor, create a team, and be part of the day that will show our gratitude for the freedom we all love.

The official charity of RUCK 4 FREEDOM is HOPE Mental Health Foundation. Funds will be used to benefit the mental health of Soldiers, and their families through the gift of therapy. This event will also contribute to Delta Dogs, a Foundation that provides service dogs to our Veterans.

Mail-in Registration and Virtual Ruck Registration 

To register by mail please complete and return our Mail-in Registration Form! Please make checks payable to StartLine Racing.

Can't make it to this year's event but still want to participate? This year will feature a Virtual Ruck. A virtual ruck can take place at any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, or participate in another ruck. You can go your race at your pace wherever you like. All virtual ruck participants will receive a custom event finisher's medal and custom event shirt. Please note that your shirt and medal will be mailed out following the event on February 11, 2023. Prior to the event all virtual participants will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your time.

Virtual Registrations are restricted to US addresses only. If you reside outside of the US and wish to participate please contact StartLine Racing at

Age Group Awards for Top Three in all Age Groups. Our age groups are the following:

  • 8 & Under, 9 & 10, 11-13, 14-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over

Pre- and Post-Race "Runner's Brunch" (granola bars, fruit, water, Gatorade, etc)

Chip Timed with Real Time Results and Photos on our Website or Mobile App (on Apple and Google)

Event managed by StartLine Racing. Club SLR discounts do not apply.

Please note any race related items (shirts, medals, etc.) will NOT be mailed to those that do not attend.


Race Day Information 

Race Day Registration will be available beginning at 7:00am.

We accept cash, check, and credit cards on race day

  • Race day pricing will be: $50

Stroller friendly event. Strollers MUST start at the back of the pack.

Leashed pet friendly event.

No motorized vehicles, bicycles, wagons, etc are allowed on the ruck course.

Due to the common start/finish line, there is no bag check for this event.

The course will take you through dedicated running trails (all asphalt and concrete), starting and ending at the American Leadership Academy - meaning no need for transportation before or after the race just to get back to your car! Please note - this is an open use trail system and does not close for our event.

This event will take place rain or shine. There are no refunds or transfers due to weather.

For those participating in the 5K Ruck will need to provide their own weighted backpack.

Packet Pick-up is available on Friday, February 10th from 3-6pm at Caddie Shack (map)

  • Caddie Shack is located at 4588 S Higley Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297

Race Day Packet Pick-Up will be available beginning at 7:00am.
