Event Description

June 3, Cox Stadium (SF State), kicking off at 8 am.

San Francisco’s running community is coming together to break the WR in the women’s 100 x 1 mile relay!  100 different women will run 1 mile on the track in an attempt to better the current world record of 9:23:39 set in 1999 (5:37/mile average pace).  The relay is co-hosted by the San Francisco Road Runners, Dolphin South End Runners, Impala Racing Team and Pamakids Runners.

The relay will be held on the track at SF State’s Cox Stadium, and pacers will be available for athletes who want pacing/wind-blocking.  Men are welcome to participate as pacers.  Proceeds will promote girls' running by benefitting Girls on the Run Bay Area programs at under-resourced SF schools.  Coffee and food trucks will sustain athletes and spectators!  Generous in-kind donations from Lululemon, Sports Basement and A Runner's Mind will reward our runners, pacers and volunteers.

In keeping with the theme, all our women racers will have a connection to San Francisco, whether by virtue of birth, current or past school attendance, current residence or place of employment, or current membership in an SF-based running club.
