Event Description

The A-7 Corsair II served for nearly fifty years as one of the workhorses of the skies.  From Vietnam to the Gulf War, from the US Navy and Air Force to the Hellenic Air Force, it was flown around the world and is much the same as the venerable sport of golf - known across the globe with a long and noble history.  So it is only fitting the A-7 Corsair II Association should host a virtual golf tournament.

The virtual golf tournament will run from May 1, 2023 to May 27, 2023.  Teams of four players will complete 18 holes of golf at a course of their choosing in a scramble format.   One score is turned in for each team, and using the USGA Golf Course Rating System, winning teams will be announced based on the level of difficulty of the course and the team's score.   So, grab some friends and entertain them with your A-7 sea stories and a fun round of golf.   You can enter as many times with as many teams as you would like!

The team captain will register their team on this site.  The registration fee is $40 per person, or $160 per team to enter.  Teams will pay their own green fees to play the course of their choosing.  Each player will receive a custom A-7 divot repair tool with a removable A-7 ball marker, and a custom A-7 player order flip coin.   Each team captain will receive 12 custom poker chips to be awarded to the appropriate player at the end of the round.  For example, the "Shack" chip goes to the longest putt of the round, while the "Bolter, Bolter" chip goes to the best on-and-off the green shot of the round.   The top three teams will receive an A-7 Golf Shirt commemorating the first A-7 Corsair II Virtual Golf Tournament, suitable for wear at Spring Flings and Tailhook.

We will be accepting Sponsors for the tournament at three levels - Wing ($1000), Squadron ($500), and Division ($250).  The sponsors will be highlighted on the scorecards provided to each player, on the back of a poker chip for each $250 (1 chip for division, 2 for squadron and 4 for wing), and in social media posts and newsletters leading up to and following the event.

All entry and sponsorship funds will be used to support the non-profit A-7 Corsair II Association's mission including scholarships for America’s youth for various programs focusing on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, critical thinking, and of course, aviation!  A portion of the entry fee and all of the sponsorship donations are tax-deductible.
