New Salem Baptist Church (NSBC) and the Active Faith Ministry would like to welcome you to join our Spring Into Service 5k event in support of Rushton’s Hope! New Salem Baptist Church is located in Griffin and has many community service opportunities throughout the city of Griffin. Our Active Faith Ministry is honored to have the opportunity to bring the community together to share the Gospel of Jesus and to support the ongoing community support and engagement efforts of Rushton’s Hope. Rushton’s Hope is a Christian charitable organization in Griffin who works tirelessly to bring the Gospel of Jesus to our community and to meet the needs of our community on both physical and spiritual levels. Since 2007 Rushton’s Hope has been working the Lord’s mission to bring restoration to Griffin and beyond by bringing the message that there is hope in Jesus Christ for everyone who is hopeless, helpless, homeless, abused and refused, rejected, and neglected. They have multiple resources and programs available. You can check out the ministry opportunities and service times for New Salem Baptist Church at www.nsbc.org. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for this event. All proceeds above and beyond race expenses will be given directly to Rushton’s Hope. Race details:
This event will be a 5k distance (3.1 miles). As we are wanting every dollar possible to go directly to Rushton’s Hope this race will not be chip timed. We will have a gun start and will have a timing crew recording all finisher’s times and recording race results. We will have an age group award ceremony and winners will receive a medal. All registrants will receive a race T-shirt designed and printed by J-Max graphics (be sure to sign up by the shirt deadline to guarantee a shirt), race bib, course support, and post race breakfast. Breakfast Menu: Biscuits, Mrs. Stephanie’s delicious oatmeal, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee lovingly donated and prepared by New Salem Baptist Church!
Having a fun and safe race is a priority. We will have support from Griffin PD and our New Salem Baptist Church volunteers. The course will be well marked and volunteers will be along the route to cheer you on and make sure you know where all the turns are located. There will be one water station about halfway through the course. We will warm up all the walkers/ runners with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, prayer, opening remarks/ instructions, and praise music starting at 7:45 AM. Race starts at 8:00 AM sharp. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome! Any minor child running / walking the race on their own and not in a stroller should register for the event and be accompanied and monitored by an adult.

In-person 5K event: $25.00
Virtual/ Ghost runner: $25.00
Race Day registration In-Person 5K: $30.00 cash or check only
T-shirt purchase only: $20.00 (must register before T-shirt deadline)
Age Group Awards for male and female racers:
Overall Winner, Overall Master Winner (age 40+), 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24,
25-29, 30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 +.
Ghost runners will be able to submit by email their virtual race times and will be included in the final race results in their own category. Virtual results will not be eligible for race day awards.

Disclaimers:
There is a T-shirt deadline for this race. Anyone registering after April 5th at 11:59 PM will not be guaranteed a T-shirt. The last day to register online for this race will be April 20, 2023 at 11:59. Race Day registration will be allowed with cash or check only and will be $30.00. This is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather. If the race is unable to be safely held due to weather or other unforeseen emergency the event will become virtual and registrants will email their 5K times to NSBCactivefaithministry@gmail.com by Monday April 24, 2023 at 11:59PM to have their results included in the official race results. If the event goes fully virtual all submitted results will be considered for age group awards. This is an open road course. All participants are ultimately responsible for their own safety and well being during the event.
